Where We Went In 2012

June 21st to July 1st

Newquay, Cornwall

Pollys' last exam is on Thursday 21st June so it's straight from school to Newquay.

We're stopping at the Hendra Holiday park where we've stopped before a couple of times in statics.
Though stopping on the site, with electric and full use of all the site facilities, which we know are good from our previous stays, we are actually on a Camping & Cravan Club THS (Temporary Holiday Site). It's exactly the same as booking with Hendra  but at half the price. We've only ever been on one rally and that was for just one weekend but this seems such a bargain!

Looking forward to Lusty Glaze Beach, bistro and waves!

August 31st to September 2nd

Chatsworth, Derbyshire

Chatsworth Show Weekend.

I took the picture on the left last year on the Saturday morning from just outside the site.

Plenty going on usually, lots of displays in the centre arena, equestrian events, game dog displays, air displays, lots of stalls etc.

We're staying on the Caravan Club site which is within an old walled garden, just the other side through a gate is the show

September 28th to September 30th

Rowntree Park, York, North Yorkshire

We booked this after our Easter break. The site has been shut for refurbishment. Wonder what's changed.

This is a very well located site in the middle of York .

October 13th to November 11th

Spain and France

I've put this on the list but the start date will need to be flexible depending how busy or not work is.

It could be anytime between mid October 2012 and mid February 2013.

We would like to travel down the Atlantic Coast and across to Southern France and into Spain and go/do whatever!

It's a dream.

May 25th to May 27th

Castleton, Derbyshire

Our second booked weekend break at the Loosehill now apparently renamed Castleton Caravan Club Site, how do they think up these crazy names.

The two of us and definitely taking Buster on this one. The pubs in the village are pretty good and all but one of them welcomed dog owners the last time we were there. Only down side last time was no papers delivered to site and quite a walk to the papershop, not a problem for the tuggers.

July 20th to July 23rd

Blackpool, Lancashire

The Open At Lytham St. Annes

This is the weekend that the Open Golf is being held at Lytham St. Annes. I've worked out it's about 3 miles to the Golf Course from the Blackpool South Caravan Club site but so have a lot of other people, could only get on from the Saturday would preferred to have got there on the Thursday and gone to the Golf on the Friday & Saturday, will make do with Sunday. Coming home Monday, happy if Lee Westwood has won his first major .

13th June: Went back onto the Caravan Club web site and there must have been a few cancellations as Friday 20th July was now available so have booked that as well, not sure which days we're off to go to the Open yet.

A weekend at Knaresborough Caravan Club Site.

Just the two of us for this weekend, our first time at Knaresborough Caravan Club Site. Don't know whether or not to take Buster on this one, might leave him at home this time while we see what it's like.

Knaresborough, North Yorkshire

June 8th to June 10th

August 3rd to August 5th

Castleton, Derbyshire

Back to Loosehill.

The two of us and definitely taking Buster on this one. The pubs in the village are pretty good and all but one of them welcomed dog owners the last time we were there. Only down side last time was no papers delivered to site and about 1/2 mile to papershop, problem for the tuggers.

Cancelled

We're Off To France & Spain Instead

It's nolonger a dream. 30th September ferry to Calais

September 30th till at least 20th October

April 6th to April 9th

Bridlington, East Riding.

Easter Weekend

Our first planned outing of the year. Not a great fan of Brid but it’s not too far to go and we’re stopping a the new Caravan Club site.

The two of us + Polly and Buster the dog.

April 13th to April 15th

Castleton, Derbyshire.

Grand National Weekend, only the second time since 1973 I won't have watched it at home.

A weekend break at the Loosehill now apparently renamed Castleton Caravan Club Site, how do they think up these crazy names.

The two of us and definitely taking Buster on this one. The pubs in the village are pretty good and all but one of them welcomed dog owners the last time we were there. Only down side last time was no papers delivered to site and quite a walk to the papershop, not a problem for the tuggers.

May 11th to May 13th

Hayfield, Camping & Caravan Site

Last minute booking after seeing the area on the BBC's Country File.

This is where, in 1932 500 walkers held a mass trespass and walked from Hayfield to Kinder Scout.

As a tribute to these walkers on Saturday 12th May at precisely 19:32 I intend to walk the 500 yards to the village pub.

September 14th  to September 16th

Scarborough, North Yorkshire

Scarborough Caravan and Camping Club

Looking forward to this weekend, nice site and love the walk from the site. Our walk: from the site across a field to the cliff tops, along the cliff top to Scalby Mill, along North Bay Promenade, up inScarborourgh before Marine Drive, around Scarborough and down to South Bay, upto the Harbour and along Marine Drive and back onto North Bay Promenade to The Scalby Mill and something to eat and a few pints a the Old Scalby Mills pub, back past the Golf Course to Burniston Rd and back to the campsite.

Alternatively from the camp site to Scalby Mills pub by the most direct route, a few pints and back. Weather depending.

There's a good chippie on site too, makes Friday tea easier.
