Myrtle The Motorhome

Finally I would just like to say that if anyone knows of an event, show, rally or just a good weekend that they think we would enjoy and that they're going to be at and would like to meet up please let us know and we will do our best to have a Myrtle Meet or Myrtle Moment.

So here's to a good year ahead with sunny days, warm evenings, a few beers, a drop of wine, the odd barbecue and hopefully lots of

December 19th to December 21st

Castleton Caravan Club Site, Castleton

A second planned Christmassy winter break for 2014. This time for a Carol Concert in a Cavern.

At the time of writing we're scheduled to go to Catleton on 14th December 2013 with six Myrtle Mates but we'll be stopping at the Peak Hotel Castleton because the Caravan Club Site was fully booked.

Merry Christmas everybody!

Rowntree Park, Caravan Club Site. York.

December 5th  to 7th December

Another New Experience For 2014

Myrtle's usually drained down and wrapped up by this time of the year but as our only remaining dependant will be a university student by now, for 2014 we've decided to take a couple of Christmassy breaks.

As long as it's not too cold!

Chatsworth Park Caravan Club Site, Chatsworth

August 29th to 1st September

Chatsworth Country Show Weekend

This has now become an annual event for us and one we very much look forward to not least because Gary & Julie Simpson join us each year for this weekend.

Wonder who'll win the annual "Who Can Buy The Daftest Country Clothing" competition this year?

August 15th to August 17th

Rowntree Park, Caravan Club Site. York.

Another Trip To York Planned

This is possibly the easiest site on either network for us to get to with plenty always going on close to the site which is handy during what should be our busy period at work.

August 1st to August 3rd

Wharfdale Caravan Club Site, Grassington
North Yorkshire

Another new site for me and H!

More beautiful countryside and lots of fresh air and according to the book only a 5 minute walk to the nearest PH! Guess that's what "m" stands for "minutes"!

July 18th to July 20th

Lower Wensleydale Caravan Club Site, Leyburn
North Yorkshire.

Another new site for me and Gromit, oops I mean H!

This should be a smashing site lad, in beautiful countryside and only 0.25m from a PH. Now I know PH is Public House but we're not sure if "m" is meters or miles, if it's the latter the exercise will do us good!!

July 4th to July 6th

Braithwaite Fold Camping & Caravan Club Site
Bowness on Windermere, Cumbria

One of the most popular sites across both networks along with the Caravan Clubs Rowntree Park at York.

Beautifully positioned half way down the eastern shore of Lake Winermere in the heart of the Lake District National Park, this site is only a few minutes walk from the Victorian tourist resort after which it is named.

Well that's what is says in the "Big Book" and it was the only weekend we could get in!

June 6th to June 8th

Hawes Caravan Club Site. Hawes, North Yorkshire.

Our first planned visit to this site.

For this year we've decided to try and make more advantage of the lighter nights and travel a bit further field on our weekend trips and visit a few new sites and areas.

May 22nd to May 27th

Keswick Caravan & Camping Club Site, Cumbria

Taking Advantage Of The Bank Holiday Weekend To Return To Cumbria To A Site We Visited For The First Time Last October.

It was on our last visit here that a freak gust of wind ripped our canopy off and caused over £4000 worth of damage to Myrtle.

Apparently we were hit by a wind called the Borrowdale Boar which comes off the mountains, along Derwent Water and into Keswick.

I don't think we'll use the canopy this time.

May 9th to May 11th

Rowntree Park, Caravan Club Site. York.

An ideally located and very popular site.

Always plenty to do and see in York and all within walking distance of the site.

April 24th to April 28th

The National Motorhome Show, Peterborough

It's the big one. The Mass Myrtle The Motorhome, Myrtle Mates Meet.

With our own camping area just for Myrtle Mates this will be the inaugural annual Mass Myrtle The Motorhome, Myrtle Mate, Meet.

A good opportunity for Myrtle Mates to get together and swap plans for the rest of the year while enjoying a few beers and a barbecue as well as over 300 exhibitors over three show days.

You Are Respectfully Reminded That Bingo and Country & Western Music Is Not Permitted In The Myrtle Mates Camping Area.
Just Beer, Wine & Barbecues!

March 14th to March 16th

Uttoxeter Racecourse, Caravan Club Site.

Midlands Grand National Weekend

This is an early outing for us but as long as the weathers okay it should be a good weekend which could be even better if we pick the winner of the big one.

September 25th to September 29th

The Motorhome Show Finale, The Lincolnshire Showground

Following on from The National Motorhome Show, Peterborough at the beginning of the season, if we're all still Mates and if that was successful and if enough people want to, we can meet up again for the season finale at Lincoln.

Once again we've booked our own camping area just for Myrtle Mates and four nights camping is available while the three day show, with over 200 exhibitors is on and Warners Shows is laying on a Best of British entertainment theme for the weekend.

You Are Respectfully Reminded That Bingo and Country & Western Music Is Not Permitted In The Myrtle Mates Camping Area.
Just Beer, Wine & Barbecues!

September 12th to September 15th

The MCS Caravan & Camping Club Beamish Rally

The first change to our plans and another new area and experience for 2014.

Myrtle Mates Sue & John told us about this regular rally to the Beamish Museum and have highly recommended it.

I telephoned the the MCS Northern Region Site Officer today 10th Dec 2013 and there's no need to book you jsut tip up, so we're in.

Where We Went In 2014

We started the year with a plan, as always, but the year panned out a little differently.

We started on schedule at Uttoxeter Races for the Midland Grand National and the the first Mass Myrtle The Motorhome Myrtle Mate Meet at Peterborough but we never got the 10 day UK summer break we were hoping for and had to cancel the odd planned weekend but we finished off in style with a cracking 3 week tour of Spain in October!
